TIBBY CUP 2024 – 21ST JULY

The format of this competition is that matches are played in the Aussie Pairs format i.e. in pairs. There are three matches of six ends, with points and ‘ends won’ deciding the winner. The event is played to a conclusion on the day.

Tibby was a member who loved to bake cakes. It was a feature of the afternoon that members provided cakes which were consumed at the end of the afternoon. This was no exception and some sponges, cup cakes, muffins and buns were enjoyed by all.

There were 14 pairs playing on seven rinks and the aim is for no team to play another twice and not on the same rink twice. The former is straightforward but the latter appears to be mathematically impossible.

It is pleasing to note that no team lost all three matches, while only two won all three of theirs. The runners up with three wins and eleven ends won was Stuart Hall and Chantelle Swiegers while the winners were Dave Pryce and George King with three wins and twelve ends won.

Thanks go the Barb Fountain who kindly offered to make the tea, those who baked some very tasty and welcome cakes, Ken and his crew on the bar and, most importantly, Keith Russell and his team who set out the equipment and provided seven fine rinks.

A very good club afternoon all round.
